Cherry Mobile Flare

News have been circling around about the Cherry Mobile Flare edition that was launched late last year so we have decided to get one and played with it for sometime to find out if it was worth the price at 3,999php. Specs are below and we tried to explore every possible problem that one may encounter.

Qualcomm MSM8625 Snapdragon S4 1.2GHz dual-core processor
Adreno 203 GPU
4.0″ IPS capacitive touch panel (800 x 480)
512MB RAM
4GB internal storage up to 32GB via microSD
3G / HSDPA
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, WiFi hotspot
Bluetooth 2.1
GPS w/ aGPS support
Dual-SIM, Dual-Standby
5-megapixel rear camera with flash
VGA front-facing camera
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
1500mAh battery
152 grams

As of today, we are pretty much satisfied with the unit that we got last February and luckily, the only thing that we can comment on is the battery. The life cycle of a newly charged battery only lasts for 6 hours (atleast for us). They may need to improve the battery aspect of this unit. We also tried to maximize the WIFI usage by keeping the feature on for hours and we found no WIFI problems as well as browsing although there were occasional timing out (average of 1 or 2 times during surf times).

To all those who are encountering problems with their unit, you might want to check out their Facebook Fan Page to get help. I'm sure there is someone available who can help out. A lot of questions are posted on their page which may be able to help us out.

Problems encountered based on the articles that I have read are as follows:
Frequent black outs
No Camera Display (which might be a factory defect if the unit is brand new, so make sure to test everything before paying for it!)
Unable to access the Internet/Unable to connect to 3g
Frequent restarts
and a lot more...

Good thing I have not yet encountered such issues so I am calling the attention of those who can help those who are encountering such. Let us all help each other so that we may all enjoy the unit to the max. =)

Watch out for the Jelly Bean Upgrade that Cherry Mobile will be launching and let's all hope that this will fix all existing bugs! =)

10K Steps To Good Health

Our company has recently joined the 10,000 steps per day challenge, a great leap towards focusing on employees’ health. In this activity we were issued the GCC Pulse Accelerometer wherein this small piece of device will count every step taken by each participant, which means that it goes wherever we go.

Here is our device! What's best about it is that you get to keep it as a token! What's inside the package are 2 Accelerometer and an extra piece of battery... Nice huh?

As you can see, this is my first day and this is my first 4,000 steps! I belong with the Purple Bear Team and our progress is logged in on a specific site which will serve to monitor the daily numbers each of us had and at the end of the 3 month challenge, everyone will be ranked according to the highest number of yield/steps taken during the entire program.

I bet this will be a fun way to go healthy and I hope to keep you all updated on the progress that I will have from today onwards!
