ADHD - Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

ADHD is the acronym that means Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. This is a condition that affects the areas of the brain that help us to control impulses, concentrate, and organize and although studies have shown that it can be treated with medicine, therapy, and other support, it is still vital for us to know if our kids are one of those who are affected by this condition.

I have had several opportunities of meeting kids with different level of Hyperactivity being tin the therapy field and it might have somehow influenced me into thinking that the current changes that I am noticing with kenn is associated with this situation. Lately I have this crazy feeling that there is something wrong. He would often drop glasses, cannot concentrate and is easily distracted, what’s worse is that I am thinking that he is having trouble in remembering things especially chores assigned to him… I tried to read more on this condition thinking that my concept of this condition would not suffice my thirst for more information which will be of great help should there be a need to worry.

True enough, we went to see the doctor and guess what, if you have been following my blog about issues with kids, you would have guessed it right, I am overanalyzing things, overly panicking and a terrible stress manager. I often score low when it comes to handling of issues when it comes to my kids.  Good thing that we only have one Pediatrician from the day when Kenn was born up to this day which is a relief because even from a distance, she can tell what’s wrong and right. =)

Why am I most concerned about this condition?

I have seen kids afflicted with this and I could say that it is certainly not easy to deal with this. It will take a whole lot of heart and mind before one will be able to grasp, embrace and accept kids in this condition. I know some parents who have been crying, still, after several years of dealing with their kids who has ADHD. From the definition itself, HYPERACTIVITY, you can already tell that kids will be burning their calories and will never get tired of moving, along with this, a kid may also exhibit less focus on everything and will have difficulty in school and dealing with friends and family. It is the most commonly studied and diagnosed psychiatric disorder in children and adolescents, affecting about 6 to 7 percent of children and is diagnosed in about 2 to 16 percent of school-aged children. ADHD management usually involves some combination of medications, behavior therapy, lifestyle changes, and counseling. Medications are only recommended as a first-line treatment option in children who have severe symptoms. ADHD is diagnosed three to four times more commonly in boys than in girls.

Pontevia Newest Hang out in Town!

Yesterday was so much fun! We went for a short drive going to Pontevia, roughly 10 minutes away from our place. We often visit the place because they have the nearest Mc Donald's store. Pontevia is a growing business location that is situated along Daanghari Road, Muntinlupa City, just across Portofino and Fernbrook Gardens where you can find the latest addition to the Rustan's chain of department stores although they only have a few stores open as of this day. They have drive thru Starbucks, Mc Donald's, ACE Hardware, and a lot more stall soon to open. They also have free film showing during weekends (i'm just not so sure if they also have it during weekdays) and every Saturday they have a "Trunk Sale" wherein cars with goods at their trunk can sell commodities of various kinds at very cheap prices! Just make sure to bring your flashlights because the place is not well lit because they are still developing the entire place. What's best about it is that merchants can sign up for a space free of charge!

I have shared this article because of what happened in Mc Donald's yesterday. We were out the to have dinner when I noticed the staff trying to gather in a corner with a balloon and a birthday hat. Suddenly they approached the group of people sitting beside us while singing "Happy Birthday". They were all surprised with this gesture and kept on thanking the crew for what they did. It was their Grandma's birthday and one of the crews overheard them talking about the celebration which led them to sing to the celebrant. I was really touched by what I saw and what moved me more was when the Store Manager reached out to Enzo and asked if Enzo would like to have a balloon too... wow, I said to myself, that they have a really good customer service from the manager down to the crews. So what I did was to take a picture of Jeffrey (the store manager) and Enzo.

WOW Mom! Donaire's Pregnant Wife Saves Kid!

Just heard over the news about how Nonito Donaire's pregnant wife saved a kid during the celebration of the 4th of July.

About an hour later after the incident happened, a post on Donaire's Twitter account revealed more details about the incident.

"During 4th of July, a friend's son disappeared underneath the water. Rachel didn't hesitate to jump in to save the child but injured herself in the process."

The 4-division world boxing champion admitted: "She moved so quickly it scared me."

Rachel was monitored in the hospital for over an hour. She felt a sharp pain when she woke up and was diagnosed with a strained ligament. The good news is – the doctors said the baby was not affected. But was still advised to stay at the hospital for a couple of days.

The Minions: Despicable Me 2

Gru’s minions are coming as the newest Despicable Me 2 is already hitting the big screen! Kenn has been looking forward to this weekend all because of the small, yellow, cylinder-shaped, genetically humanized kernels that have one or two eyes and are one of the most notable characters in the film which are more widely known as the Minions. The Minions are a similar size and shape, but have unique features to tell them apart, such as height, number of eyes, roundness or secondary features such as hair, eye/pupil size or clothing. They choose to express themselves through actions, not words: their "language" is fairly basic, they speak in a strange jabber; except for the odd human word every now and again and occasional Spanish-sounding words like "Para tú (for you)…

Strange enough on the newest movie franchise, even the minions were overheard speaking in Filipino Language such as “Narito na” (already here) and “ikot” (turn), something to look forward to when we watch it later. Video of these cute little creatures speaking my language have already gone viral and I wouldn’t miss it for the world.

Happy Fourth of July!!!

Tomorrow is a special day for those who live in the United States… One of the most celebrated events for our friends and families who reside in the US is their Independence Day which occurs every Fourth of July. Their Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbeques, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, family reunions, and political speeches and ceremonies, in addition to various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States.
