Rabies Free Summer!

This morning I woke up to the sound of dogs barking all over the place so I went out to check what was happening outside and found out that the City Government of Muntinlupa has been going around villages again  to administer the yearly project of Anti Rabies shots for dogs. This is because every summer, when kids are out for vacation from school, based on studies, the occurrence of rabies is on a higher level. Since children are almost out the whole day playing, there is a greater chance of them for rabies exposure because there are dogs owners who are quite lax in keeping their dogs in when the kids are out.

So what is Rabies?

Rabies is a viral disease that causes acute encephalitis in warm-blooded animals. The disease is zoonotic, meaning it can be transmitted from one species to another, such as from dogs to humans, commonly by a bite from an infected animal. For a human, rabies is almost invariably fatal if post exposure prophylaxis is not administered prior to the onset of severe symptoms. The rabies virus infects the central nervous system, ultimately causing disease in the brain and death.

Rabies can be prevented if dog owners are responsible enough to know their responsibilities with their pets, which includes, but is not limited to, having the yearly anti rabies shots. That is why I make sure that my dogs (we used to have 2, but since dear Bambi died a couple of months back =(, we now only have 1) gets the yearly shot.

So here is what Bho (our dog’s name) got for her shot…

Let’s all be responsible this summer and get the shot going so that our kids can enjoy a rabies free summer! Happy Summer y’all! =)

La Traviesa Hotel and Resort, General Trias, Cavite CIty

I am currently having the best birthday ever with my family and some extended... We have been planning to celebrate my birthday but due to some restrictions, we were left to plan until last week. We have been scouting for a good venue both for the kids, me and Jon and we came up with this beautiful place somewhere in Cavite, La Traviesa Hotel and Resort...

This place was roughly 39 Kms away from home via Daang Hari and was not hard to find. We arrived at the venue at around 11am and we were greeted by an awesome staff, who were all so welcoming and warm. We arrived 3 hours earlier than our check in time but what was amazing was that they allowed us to go on early check in with the same check out time... Pretty neat huh?! I am very satisfied with how everyone is treating us here. Isn't it nice to be treated extra on your birthday? LOL!

Here is my little darling...

The men in my life... Out to celebrate with me...

We were supposed to stay in a 2 bedroom place but they upgraded our room to a 3 bed room at no extra charge! This place is really awesome plus the staff who are all superb!

Our Breakfast... you have the option to have it served in your room or you can just eat out beside the pool in their mini cafeteria... You can actually bring in food at no corkage fee. We brought rice, fried Chicken, soup, hotdog, barbecue, fish, fruits, drinks (no alcoholic beverages for us though) and a lot of snacks for the kiddos.

What's in the room... we have a fridge, Toilet and Bath which is soooo amazing as well... we have lamp shades, landline phone, office table, 3 beds, LCD TV (with satellite service), and a cozy couch. =D This was indeed a wise choice...

We are still enjoying the warm water as of this time in a pretty neat kubo beside the pool. This is indeed one of the most unforgettable birthdays ever, spending it with the most important people in my life in a very special place...

Happy Birthday to me! =)

Hope y'all enjoyed our pictures as much as our stay in this place.

Candy Crush...

Everyone's been talking about some candies lately and I got really curious the past weeks about where the fuzz is coming from... Until I met Candy Crush the game. I got all excited to play it and man, it was fun! =D

The game is similar to other games such as Jewels Legend and the like, wherein you will match the same items, in  this game, you get to match the different candies. Here are some of the variants of candies that you will see in this game.

There are of course, as with any other games, power ups, Wherein if you combine power candies, you will end up exploding the candies from different corners/sides of the game field. Neat huh? =)

That is the sample of the game... It is really nice and enjoying until it lasted, now I'm not able to move a bit because it is not letting me connect to Facebook... =( Might as well say goodbye to this pretty neat game... =( it was fun while it lasted...

I have gone through some forums on the fix, but none worked. I guess it's goodbye now... =(

Circle Island Resort, Bacoor, Cavite

Last Saturday was fun as we went out for a swim. I didn’t think that Enzo would enjoy, but he did too, after several dips in the pool. We went to a place near ours and it’s called Circle Island Resort in Bacoor, province of Cavite. We were initially planning on going to Batangas for a short escapade but due to time restrictions, we just decided to go some place near so that we won’t be taking much of our time travelling.

This place is roughly 15 minutes away from our house, very accessible. And along the way you will pass the newly established Rustan’s Supermarket and Mc Donald’s Daang Hari where you can stop by for a quick grocery and to add to the list of places to buy food, before you reach the destination, you will also see SM Molino branch where you will have more options to choose from.

Beauty And The Beast New Season!

A few years back (well, maybe several years back probably) I used to follow this TV series entitled, Beauty and The Beast which starred Linda Hamilton (as Catherine) and Ron Perlman (as Vincent).

Catherine begins as the wealthy and privileged daughter of a highly successful New York lawyer, unsatisfied with her mundane life and frustrated with both her father and fiancé’s suffocating influence. Leaving a dinner party alone one evening, Catherine is kidnapped, disfigured and abandoned on the side of a road, only to be rescued and nursed back to health by a mysterious man. Her face conveniently bandaged, she forms a bond with the man, Vincent, without ever seeing his face (or crucially, questioning why he doesn’t take her to a hospital) and, by the time she is healed, they’ve formed a bond too strong for his alarming appearance to break. That was how I remembered it from 1987; the series actually ran for 3 years. One of my most loved series ever which features the song “The First Time I Loved Forever” by Lisa Angelle. What made it even more special for me is the way they have associated the poem made by e. e. Cummins “Somewhere I Have Never Traveled”.
Somewhere I have never traveled, gladly beyond
any experience, your eyes have their silence:
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which I cannot touch because they are too near

or if your wish be to close me, I and
my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines
the snow carefully everywhere descending;

(I do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens; only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands…

After several years of waiting, last 2012 they released the new series, it premiered last  October 11, 2012, from the same title and with quite a few twists on the story. Catherine Chandler, a detective, witnessed her mother being shot the same night she is saved from her mother´s murderers by a supposed beast. Nine years later, a case leads her to discover that Vincent Keller, an ex soldier, killed in action during military service is actually alive. As Catherine gets to know him, she starts finding out more about her mother's murder and about who (and what) Vincent really is. At the same time a complicated relationship grows between them.

Amongst the cast of the new version of the series includes Kristin Kreuk, Jay Ryan, Austin Basis, Sendhil Ramamurthy and Nina Lisandrello.

Season Finale is set on May 16, 2013 – too bad, such a great story (for me) to be aired so shortly. Anyway, I can always buy the DVDs to keep the show alive… LOL! But kidding aside, this show is superb (again, for me) and I will keep hoping for another season…

By the way, here is the complete version of e. e. Cummins’ poem…

“Somewhere I Have Never Traveled”

somewhere I have never traveled, gladly beyond
any experience, your eyes have their silence:
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which I cannot touch because they are too near

your slightest look easily will unclose me
though I have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens
(touching skillfully, mysteriously) her first rose

or if your wish be to close me, I and
my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines
the snow carefully everywhere descending;

nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals
the power of your intense fragility: whose texture
compels me with the color of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing

(I do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens; only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands

A Salute to the Police, the Unrecognized Heroes!

My usual shift ends 5am everyday Mondays till Fridays and everyday I walk from the office to EDSA  (Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue) to ride a bus home, but early this morning was different because I had the shock of my life. I rode the bus Northbound as I regularly do to get home and thought that it was a typical day like the old ones, so just the same, I went straight to a seat by the window and waited for the bus conductor to collect my fare. After probably 5 minutes of travel, a group of men suddenly jumped into one of the passenger’s seat and was kind of like having a commotion as if they were trying to find something under their seat. There were in fact 3 men helping each other out to find something when, out of nowhere, another passenger shouted that someone took all of his money from his pocket. As the commotion was happening, another person unexpectedly appeared from the back part of the bus and shouted “everyone get down!” I wasn’t aware of whom this person is but by looking at the color of his pants, I can tell that he is a policeman. He started pointing his gun to the group of men who were having a commotion and was shouting at each of them. The policeman was beside me while he was holding his gun so as I began to panic, I then decided to transfer seat to the back side of the bus and as I was about to stand up, the policemen looked at me and said “don’t stand! Stay on your seat” so I did… It appeared to me that he was trying to apprehend the 3 men who turned out to be robbers with whom we have been travelling along and are seated on different areas of the bus, there were about 8 of them. As he was trying to pick up the 3 men, one of the robbers pulled out his own gun but his friend had to pull him away from everyone and just decided to run away from the scene. Scary? Damn it was…
Funny, but now as I recall the incident, I realized that among everyone inside that bus during the trip early this morning, I was the only person who panicked. I really have that great talent of panicking. But kidding aside, I was very thankful that nothing untoward happened earlier. I was thinking of my family as it happens, probably another one of the defining moments when you realize how lucky you are for all the people in your life and as well as all the blessings. I thank God that we were all safe. After the event, the policeman spoke with the driver and said that from the time the group boarded the bus, he already knew that they were robbers. He was outnumbered so he just had to watch every move from behind as the bus moves. He said, he was just waiting for them to declare a hold up and he will take them out one by one… scary but come to think of it, people like him who makes this country a better place to live in. I suddenly felt the need to have a policeman during my trips to and from the office, but that’s of course is just wishful thinking.
This hope for everyone to have a peaceful country knowing that we have people such as this policeman who can carry out his duty in accordance to his oath. It’s just sad that I didn’t have the chance to get his information, didn’t have the chance to thank this person through this blog… although I know where his office is, might have the chance one day during my off to pay his office a visit. I will share with all of you his information as a way of letting everyone know the day he saved my day… =)
A salute for you Sir! I hope there are a lot more people like you in this country!

Margaret Thatcher and Being a Woman

The influential Margaret Thatcher, who was the first woman to become British prime minister, has died at 87, a spokesperson said Monday, April 8. She was also known as the "Iron Lady," Thatcher, as Conservative Party leader, was prime minister from 1979 to 1990.

I do look up to people like Margaret for the reason that she has the Lion’s toughness and still manage to keep her femininity.
That being said, here is a list of some of a woman’s best character:

How do you define a woman…
Knows that in some situations, silence can be deafening.
Approachability...someone who listens without judgment, loves no matter what.
Ability to do many things equally well, multi-tasking and not have to boast about it.
a willing ability to blush and fight but stay fragile, fulfilling and fulfilled, intelligent, at ease and oblivious.
has Intelligence, beauty, the ability to be both demure and forceful.
I admire strong women who are not afraid to make the unpopular choice.
Someone who is willing to risk doing harm in order to do good.
Honesty, a sense of self without having to be jealous of another woman.
Centre their Lives around their kids, but fit in interests of their own.
The ability to psychologically empower men with subtlety.
Intelligence, a sense of humor and the ability to be able to carry off short hair.
Feminism, openness to feeling and strength and the same time, not believing that men are better or that one should strive to be mannish or unemotional
Living their truth despite her popularity or lack thereof.
I admire women who are not afraid of their own power, who embrace it, but yet still remain feminine.
Someone  who can posses both purity, innocence, grace and beauty, at the same time as possessing great ferocity, independence, and primitivity
Morals, intelligence, naturalness, being a lady and a spitfire at the same time
I like women who speak their mind and who are not afraid of how they look.
Maturity; the ability to deflect drama.
Wisdom, slow to speak and quick to listen, warm smile, gentle lovingness. Good mother.
The ability to fit into any given situation.

April is Autism Awareness Month!

April is Autism Awareness Month
The sixth annual World Autism Awareness Day is April 2, 2013. Every year, autism organizations around the world commemorate the day with unique fundraising and awareness-raising events.

What is Autism?
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and autism are both general terms for a group of complex disorders of brain development. These disorders are characterized, in varying degrees, by difficulties in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication and repetitive behaviors.
ASD can be associated with intellectual disability, difficulties in motor coordination and attention and physical health issues such as sleep and gastrointestinal disturbances. Some persons with ASD excel in visual skills, music, math and art.
What Causes Autism?
Not long ago, the answer to this question would have been “we have no idea.” Research is now delivering the answers. First and foremost, we now know that there is no one cause of autism just as there is no one type of autism. Over the last five years, scientists have identified a number of rare gene changes, or mutations, associated with autism. A small number of these are sufficient to cause autism by themselves. Most cases of autism, however, appear to be caused by a combination of autism risk genes and environmental factors influencing early brain development.
Currently, there are no defined methods on how Autism can be diagnosed but trained physicians and psychologists can administer autism-specific behavioral evaluations. Being a mom of a growing baby and someone who has the talent of panicking, I have equipped myself with some of the most important information in the world of growing up kids.

Among the most obvious signs or “Red Flags” of Autism as I have read in most articles are as follows:
Failure to establish eye contact
No response when name is called
Playing things in unusual or repetitive ways
No big smiles or other warm, joyful expressions by six months or thereafter
No back-and-forth sharing of sounds, smiles or other facial expressions by nine months
No babbling by 12 months
No back-and-forth gestures such as pointing, showing, reaching or waving by 12 months
No words by 16 months
No meaningful, two-word phrases (not including imitating or repeating) by 24 months
Any loss of speech, babbling or social skills at any age

Check to see if your child is achieving these typical milestones at each age level:
By 3-4 months
•Watches faces with interest and follows moving objects
•Recognizes familiar objects and people; smiles at the sound of your voice
•Begins to develop a social smile-
•Turns head toward sounds

•Responds to “no;” uses simple gestures, such as pointing to an object
•Babbles with changes in tone; may use single words (“dada,”“mama,” “Uh-oh!”)

•Uses pronouns (I, you, me) and some plurals (cars, dogs)
By 48 Months/4 Years
•Cooperates with other children; is increasingly inventive in fantasy play
•Names some colors; understands concepts of counting and time
•Speaks in sentences of five to six words
•Tells stories; speaks clearly enough for strangers to understand
•Follows three-part commands; understands "same" and "different"
By 60 Months/5 Years
•Wants to be like his/her friends; likes to sing, dance, and act
•Is able to distinguish fantasy from reality
•Shows increased independence
•Can count 10 or more objects and correctly name at least four colors
•Speaks in sentences of more than five words; tells longer stories
I personally had a first hand caring experience being a Therapist by degree (unfortunately, not by profession). After I graduated college, I had the opportunity to handle kids with different levels of development. I have worked as a social worker prior to engaging in the current profession that I have. I could say that being a therapist was a fulfilling experience although not financially beneficial here in my country, unless practiced in other countries. Many of whom I cared for became attached with me not because I pity them but because they are truly special and loving. They may have “delays” in their development but if you will delve more deeply and explore their emotions, you will find a certain fondness to these kids and will eventually get attached. Autism is not a disease; they are just simply children who are unique like every other kids…

I salute the parents of these kids. I have been witness to some of the miracles of how love, understanding, patience and prayers can do wonders. All children are blessings from Heaven and I believe that the reason why they are here is because in them we can find hope and wherever hope resides, there will always be someone who will always be willing to give an unconditional love…

After "Finding Nemo" comes "Finding Dory"

Disney once again will again get all kids’ feet up upon announcing the newest production that they will launch in 2015.
Ellen DeGeneres is going fishing once more with a sequel to the animated blockbuster "Finding Nemo."

Disney and its Pixar Animation unit announced Tuesday that DeGeneres will reprise her "Nemo" voice role for "Finding Dory." The sequel is due out Nov. 25, 2015, and will be directed by Andrew Stanton, who also made "Finding Nemo."
According to Disney, the film will feature new characters along with familiar ones, including Nemo and his dad, Marlin, who was voiced by Albert Brooks. There's no word yet from Disney on whether Brooks will reprise his voice role.
"Finding Nemo" was released in 2003 and took in $921 million worldwide. The movie was the first Pixar production to win the Academy Award for best animated feature after the category was added in 2001. Pixar films have gone on to dominate, winning the Oscar seven years out of 12.
This indeed is something to look forward to; Disney never failed to entertain kids and kids at heart. Let’s hear it from Nemo and the gang one more time! Looking forward to 2015… =)

April, My Birth Month!

It’s the 1st of April, my birth month. I am looking forward to more of the good things that have been going on in my life. I have a whole lot of wishes for my family and friends but the most important wish I have, I have kept in my heart.
I will be a year older this month and I am praying for more wisdom, understanding, love and patience. I may not be the best person in this world, but I have had my share of goodness in this world. I am born under the sign of Taurus and the rest of the information is below.
Taurus ()
Zodiac Symbol                      Bull
Duration                       19 April – 20 May (2013, UTC)
Constellation                         Taurus
Zodiac Element           Earth
Zodiac Quality                      Fixed
Sign ruler                     Venus
Detriment                              Mars
Exaltation                     Moon
Fall                                none
I am a person who loves a good laugh, I love hanging out with friends and family. I love to be surrounded by people who cares and gets a little challenged being in the presence of those who don’t. I love nature which might be because I am an Earth person. They say we Taureans values harmony in our personal lives, so we’ll work hard on keeping our mate happy, I would say that this is true ‘cause sometimes my world stumbles down if there is even a minute issue between me and my better half.
Nevertheless, I love being happy, I love my kids and my husband and there is nothing else in this world that could replace the happiness that I have with them.
Having said all these, now I want to thank the one who gave me all that I have in my life, Father God. You never cease to make me and my family happy, so now I give you back all the praise and glory forever. Thank you Lord! =)
